Computer Science is shaping the future of the world. I am a graduate in Computer Science and, during the course of my studies I took a personal interest in blockchain and the use of artificial intelligence. I even attended bootcamps and learnt on my own. This whetted my appetite to learn more and to become a specialist. This proposed course is a continuation of my quest for knowledge.

What I have learnt so far during undergraduate studies is but the proverbial tip of the iceberg. We have been taught various topics but never descended to the depths or touched heights. I am looking to advance further in this field by studying advanced concepts of software development, project management, architecting solutions, databases and the use of AI and related technologies.

This course is just right for me. It offers a mix of topics of interest to me and relevant to my future career path. There are basic topics and there are electives in which one can specialize. Employers demand expertise and a high level of skill in their employees. Those who are not up to the mark are sidelined. For me, this program represents a step in the direction to achieving expertise and being industry ready.

Why this university and this country

I have researched a number of universities and the courses on offer. I find that this university matches my criteria in many areas. It is an established and respected institution with high ranking for academic excellence on a global scale. Its faculty is held in high regard and surely when a student has the benefit of learning from experts it makes a vital difference. Then there are other factors like research, libraries, access to internship or project work that will round off my education and make me truly capable to take to high level work with ease when I finally graduate.

America stands apart from the rest of the world in the matter of education. I find that students are encouraged to think and innovate rather than follow a beaten path. Talent is recognized and nurtured. It is also a challenging country where each one must do one’s best or fall by the wayside. From another viewpoint, the culture is different with people from various ethnic origins existing peacefully and in harmony. There is much to be learnt here and I am sure that my stay here will be educational in more than one sense.

My Past Experience

I graduated in 2021 and then took up a job in Accenture. I have been with them for a year.

One project I worked on was SAC Dashboard as a back end developer. I used SAP HANA and created CDS view in this project. It was a learning experience and a rewarding one too.

Classes/projects that I undertook

Projects are part of college studies. The major project I did was Sign Language Detection Using Image Processing. The project’s goal was to overcome the communication gap faced by people with hearing issues and normal people who did not know sign language.

Even as I was immersed in regular studies I learnt about blockchain technologies and AI on my own. I also attended blockchain bootcamps to undergo systematic training since I wished to pursue this avenue further and make it my career.

When I was in school I used to do projects on my own and took part in State-level Science fairs. I also obtained NSP scholarship for my high scores in the intermediate exam.

Leadership/community experience

Studies are one side of student life. There is more that can be done and which every student should do. I joined the NSS group in our college and took on various community service tasks such as cleanliness drives and tree plantation. This training came in handy when the pandemic struck and I organized a group of friends for community service.

I used to play cricket since my childhood days and was part of the college cricket team, leading the team to the top spot in the state-level championship tournament.

Values I bring to the institution

I have a thirst for knowledge and a passion to pursue a project. When I join classes here I hope to be a model student and to do the college proud with my contributions. Maybe, in the future, I will be in a position to repay it for the priceless gift of education.

Career goals and how this course will help

On completion of studies I intend to return to India to look for jobs in multinational giants like Google and Amazon. Most of the international IT giants have established their offices in India and they need globally educated professionals. I will probably start in a junior position and, within a year, I will progress to a senior position. In five years I may become a team leader or project head. This course is invaluable for my career prospects.
