Management streamlines the technical skills to offer efficient solutions. As an engineer I know about the nuts and bolts of things. However, my practical on-the-job experience showed me that there is more to it then mere technical skills. Management is both a science and art of which engineers should be aware and familiar with. Therefore, I wish to take on this course in MSc Management as a way to improve and add another layer of skills that will work jointly alongside my engineering skills.
What I wish to study and why
this program
I graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2016. I have learnt on the job and though self-study about enhancing engineering skills. I have also learnt about the management side such as vendor management, inventory management and, to a certain level, interfacing with customers. I wish to undertake formal education in management and learn systematically about sales, marketing, inventory, human resources and vendor management. I aim to become self sufficient in being an able engineer and an able manager.
This program is the ideal fit for me inasmuch as it incorporates the fundamentals of management to start with and then takes students on a journey towards higher concepts and sophisticated management techniques. What I have learnt about management is through hands-on work but this program will give me methodical training and make me a management expert. I will be able to do my job as an engineer much better.
Why Coventry University
I have evaluated a number of universities and have finally chosen Coventry since its management course is more in tune with what I need and my future career objective. I will not just be working purely on the management side but chiefly as an engineer capable of handling production or design side and able to manage the business operations too. This university’s course incorporates topics of interest to me and these are taught by faculty who are attuned to students’ needs and to knowledge transfer in the way it should be done. This university enjoys a high ranking in academic circles and its faculty has the respect of students and industry. Its degrees are held in esteem. One received quality education here and that is what I want.
Why UK
As for the UK, I have since
long admired the country and the business acumen of its people going back
centuries when they were masters of international trade which contributed to
the making of the Empire. Apart from that, the
My Past Experience
I joined ........... Engineering
works as a Design Engineer in November ....... and worked here till January ..........
My key responsibilities were to provide technical design direction on parts and
components for global manufacturing companies. I have to take care of the
engineering side and I also have to guide a team of juniors as well as consider
the related financial and feasibility aspects. It has been an enlightening time
for me and my work here prompted me to specialise in management in order to do
better.
Classes/projects that I
undertook
I worked on several projects
during my engineering studies. My main project was food Processing and
Semiconductor Manufacturing. I took care of all phases of the design process
for mechanical parts and components, quality and production processes. I
received commendations for the way in which I integrated various factors like functional
specifications and manufacturability into the design. I also worked on innovative
design to replace existing modules and parts in machinery to reduce cost and
improve functionality. I also worked on new assemblies development that would
accelerate production by ......
Leadership/community experience
I have been and still am active in sports. My chief interests are in volleyball and cricket. I represented my college teams in inter-collegiate competitions and acquitted myself rather well.
The Covid pandemic was an eye-opener, turning me towards community service and it helped me to build empathy and develop a feeling for service to humanity.
Values I bring to the
institution
I am hard working and persistent in everything I do, following the dictum that genius is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration. I am ready to work hard and take on challenges and overcome them. I hope to do the college proud with my contribution and, perhaps, in the future, repay it for the priceless gift of knowledge.
